* What exactly is NSS-TSEC?
NSS-TSEC is one of the various NSS units working throughout the country.It has been jointly started by NSS(Mumbai University) and Thadomal Shahani Engineering College(TSEC). Hence the name NSS-TSEC.TSEC is the first engineering college under Mumbai University to have initiated a NSS unit in the college.
* What does NSS-TSEC do?
NSS-TSEC,with purpose of service to the society, undertakes projects all through the academic year. It also holds a 10-day residential camp focusing on the regions surrounding the camp-site creating general awareness and conducting surveys regarding the way of life, infrastructure etc..These projects are made successful by the efforts of TSEC students enrolling as NSS volunteers in a membership drive held every year.
* What do we gain from NSS?
The objective of NSS is 'Development of the personality of students through community service'. NSS-TSEC working with his objective has been successfully moulding the personalities of its volunteers every year. In fact, NSS-TSEC goes way ahead cultivating values like discipline, care for nature, team-spirit thereby laying foundations of a responsible citizens. NSS-TSEC, through residential camps and projects, has given its volunteers an insight into the tragic situations faced by the needy like underpriviledged, orphans and the inhabitants of the rural areas. Such an experience sows seeds for determination to work for the society in the volunteers. This determination continues to act as guiding light for them even when they have completed their tenure as a NSS volunteer. Apart form this, as an appreciation, University of Mumbai awards every NSS volunteer who completes 240 hours of social service with 10 marks to be added in their academic score with a certificate of appreciation signed by Vice Chancellor Mumbai University.
